heaven help me

by devious ways and with a certain amount of beginner's luck, I seem to have made it, and having done so I'm so astounded that I've forgotten what I wanted to say. Please have patience; things can only get better; remember, I'm a late starter at this 'ere new fangled technique.

Its a bit late in the day now and I'm going to close but I'll be back with something more interesting I HOPE.

Dinner Anyone?

With luck this will be my first photo upload. Thought you might like the look of this proud, stalking fellow, heading for a drink from our little pond.

Belated news from the farm

I've got belated news and pictures from the farm in New Kasama. We had a bit of rain there as you can see from the earlier posting, not enough to spoil the golf but plenty for growing vegetables.

Dad's pointing at some okra here...

...oranges...

...but mostly corn (Greffen looking proud there)...

...corn...

...and more corn! There'll certainly be no risk of running out of nshima. There's also a chicken coop now

...although not too many eggs yet. Meanwhile work continues on the extension.

This is the inside of the roof with the conduits that the electricity wires will be passed through later. Elsewhere the builders are cutting out thin strips of the walls to lay other conduits before everything can be plastered.

I hear that that Mum was away for New Year but that Ba Clement organised a party in the extension. They put down straw mats on the floor, got out benches and foldable chairs and fired up a brai.

Papa's got a brand new floor

...and he laid it all himself (OldBould Jnr that is)

Newsflash! Chil is a British citizen...

Chil met the Mayor of Haringey who conferred British citizenship upon her, the passport will be another couple of weeks...

...and now Chil's got a new 'Come on England' style haircut to go with it!

Nairobi

I had a fantastic time in Nairobi with the charity Chain of Hope. I spent a couple of days exploring Nairobi on my own, sitting by the pool and playing golf, then the rest of the team arrived, it was pretty much all work after that, but still great. I won't put all of the pictures here as there are quite a lot of them but you can see some if you click here.

Back from sunny Lusaka

These are photos of Musikili Road, leading up to the farm. Chil's still in Lusaka, with the camera, so I'll post pictures of all the maize this lovely rain has helped to grow later. The rains were generally brief and didn't get too much in the way of golf.

This is Mr Tembo, my golf coach and impala at the Chilanga course.

There were monkeys on the course in Nairobi and Eagles too although not from me. You don't get that at Finchley! Uncle Lloyd recounted a story of a previous visit there when one of the monkeys picked his ball up and ran 100 meters up the fairway before dropping it near the green. Of course he had to play the ball where he found it. There were counter claims that he'd been training those monkeys for months!

I've put a picture from Nairobi on Flickr, more of these later too.

Accepting my invitation

Following a visit to Oldbould from Dylan & Chil recently, when I was introduced to the delights of this blog by Dylan, I've decided to take the plunge and make my first post - this one! I have no pics to publish just now as the digital camera is dead and a new one needs to be bought. So when the new camera finally makes an appearance, there will, eventually, be pics of allotment-grown, organic veggies. And who knows what?
